Akasha Brewing - Australia's Top Independent Craft Brewery
Founded in 2015 by Dave Padden, Akasha Brewing Co. was born from a passion for hop-forward, American-style beers. Dave’s vision was simple: craft high-quality beers and share them with as many people as possible. This journey began with the release of Freshwater Pale Ale, which quickly became Akasha’s most popular brew. By October of the same year, the team had established their own brewery in Five Dock, followed by the launch of the Akasha Taproom.
Over the years, Akasha cemented its reputation as one of Australia’s leading independent craft breweries. In 2020, the brewery rebranded, unveiling a new logo inspired by the Illuminati eye, symbolising the spiritual joy of great beer and a gateway for others to experience it. In 2022, Akasha reached a major milestone with a crowdfunding campaign that raised over $1.6 million. This initiative not only enabled expansion but also fostered a passionate community of over 500 shareholders, dubbed the “Inner Circle,” who became ambassadors for the brand.
The funds were instrumental in acquiring two new venues: the Akasha Barrel Room in Leichhardt and The Edwards in Newcastle. The Barrel Room offers a premium space showcasing Akasha’s Barrel Aged Beer program and The Edwards in the Hunter region.
As Akasha celebrates its 10th year, its mission remains unwavering: to make everyday experiences extraordinary. From brewing remarkable beers to curating unforgettable dining and event experiences, Akasha continues to share its love for craft with the community it cherishes.
